Cache Manager - By Steven Wettberg
Cache Manager places a button on the IE5 toolbar allowing
for a one-click clearing of Temporary Internet Files, cookies and optionally the History
List. The configuration program allows you to specify URLs (cookies, html, graphics etc..)
that are immune from deletion (when using the Toolbar icon, using the native IE method
will clear them). The current cache list is used to select the items for exclusion. The
"wild card" option allows you to specify a site path (or portion of a path) and
this will result in all items that match this specification being excluded from deletions.
Example:entering http://wettberg.home.texas.net/
as a wildcard would make ALL of my pages immune to deletion.
Setup -
- Place the all of the files from the ZIP file into one
directory. I don't care which directory so you may place them anywhere you like.
- Navigate to that directory and double click the
'IETool.exe' program.
- Within this program select 'Edit/Add button to IE
Toolbar'.
- You may now exit Cache Manager.
- Start Internet Explorer.
- If you see a toolbar icon titled 'Clear Cache' then the
setup is complete. You may configure Cache Manager in the future via Internet Explorers
'Tools/Configure Cache Manager' menu item. Iif you do not see the toolbar icon then
proceed to step 7.
- This means you had previously customized the toolbar (and
must do so again). Within Internet Explorer select the menu items
'View/Toolbars/Customize', you will see an item available called 'Clear Cache', simply add
this item and you're finished.
Below is an outline of the configuration GUI.
