Gravisc

(1) Introduction

Gravity Sports3 is a puzzle game where our heroine Jiima is moved around the screen, and the candies in the level are collected by changing the direction of gravity between up and down and between left and right. There are 50 levels.

(2) Title screen

Options available from the Title Screen:

START==>Start a new game.
CONTINUE==>Game continues from the last save.
SOUND==>Toggles sound off and on. If you have a version of DirectX less than version 7 then you must turn off the sound to play, otherwise the program will crash.
LIGHT==>The brightness of each level. If the levels appear too dark, increase this. A value of 5 is a good starting point.

(3) Operation

Supports both keyboard and joypad.

right and left arrows The character is moved right and left.

180 degree rotation (X)
The direction of gravity switches between up and down. Available only when you see this icon on the right.

90 degree rotation (C)
The direction of gravity rotates anti-clockwise by 90 degrees (Fall right). Available only when you see this icon on the right.

-90 degree rotation (Z)
The direction of gravity rotates clockwise by 90 degrees (Fall left). Available only when you see this icon on the right.

On the right is the number of times a particular rotation can be used. If the infinity sign is shown then you can use that rotation as often as you want.

(Q) Quits current level and restarts level from beginning. There is no penalty for restarting a level and you can do this as many times as needed.

(Esc) Quits game and returns to the desktop. The game will remember where you left off so you can continue from the same point next time (use the CONTINUE option).

(4) Screen explanation

Wall
A typical wall. Jiima can walk on this.

Candy
When all the candies are taken, the level is cleared and the next level is displayed.
The walls with the spikes rotates 180 degrees when a red candy is taken.

Spikes
If Jiima touches the spikes, the level is restarted.

Wall with spikes
When a red candy is taken or the Rotation Key is hit, this wall of spikes rotates. Basically, taking a red candy will either cause the spikes to be hidden and therefore walked on or they will appear in which case it is bad to walk on.

Rotation Key
The wall with spikes rotates clockwise by 90 degrees when this Key is taken.
It is possible to clear a level without picking up the Rotation Key.

An overview of the entire level is shown in the lower right corner of the screen.
It will become easier to understand all of this when you actually play the game.

(5) System Requirements

The program requires Direct7 or better (for the sound) and Win9x or better.
If you turn off the sound then you don't need DirectX (i.e., it will run under Windows NT 4.0). If you do not have DirectX 7 and you turn on the sound then the program will crash when it tries to play a sound.
